Dish Soap as a Miracle Solution for Odors and Dirt
For this trick, simply apply some dish soap to the toilet brush. Most households have it readily available in the kitchen–and it can work wonders in the bathroom too. Instead of relying on expensive specialty products, just put some dish soap directly on the toilet brush and use it to clean the toilet. Alternatively, the brush can be stored in a dish soap bath.
When you flush afterward, the scent spreads throughout the room, masking unpleasant odors. At the same time, the soap effectively combats bacteria and dirt, much like when cleaning dishes. Since dish soaps must be food-safe, they are significantly less harmful to the environment than stronger cleaning agents.
Protection Against Limescale and Urine Scale Included
But dish soap can do even more: On ceramic surfaces, like those of toilet bowls, it forms a mirror-smooth layer. This makes it harder for dirt to adhere. Additionally, the surfactants in the soap reduce the water’s surface tension, allowing for better runoff. This effectively prevents the formation of limescale and urine scale.
With minimal effort, you can keep the bathroom not only hygienically clean but also smelling fresh for a long time–all without expensive specialty products and just a bit of dish soap on the toilet brush.
