Starting June 19, Aldi Nord will offer a Kamado grill for 179 euros—a price that stands out compared to other Kamado models. While premium devices of this type often cost several hundred euros, this discount offer is primarily aimed at beginners and urban grill enthusiasts. But what can this affordable Kamado grill actually deliver?
Kamado grills are considered particularly versatile among grill enthusiasts: Whether direct grilling, indirect cooking, baking bread and pizza, or smoking meat–thanks to their special ceramic construction, they allow various cooking methods with even heat distribution. The model from Aldi Nord costs 179 euros, making it significantly cheaper than established brands. myHOMEBOOK asked grill blogger Anja Würfl from “Die Frau am Grill” whether the Kamado grill on offer at Aldi Nord is worth it.
Traditional Technique for Modern Grillers
Kamado grills are based on centuries-old Japanese oven technology. The ceramic walls efficiently retain heat, allowing precise temperature control. According to Anja Würfl, this design is a clear quality feature: “The grilling method itself is high-quality and a plus for beginners with high standards.” The Aldi model features a powder-coated steel frame, bamboo handles, and air regulators on the top and bottom for temperature control.
Suitable for Balcony and Terrace Thanks to Compact Size
With a diameter of about 26 centimeters, the grill is relatively small. According to the expert, it is more suitable for two to three people, such as for two steaks and some side dishes. “It’s not really a family grill, but a good starter device for single or couple households,” Würfl says. The compact size also makes it suitable for small balconies or terraces.

Price-Performance Ratio and Possible Weaknesses
Anja Würfl places the price of 179 euros in market comparison: “High-quality Kamado grills usually range from 600 to 1,500 euros.” While it is not a professional product, the grill can “represent an entry into the Kamado world”–especially for hobby grillers or the curious.
Regarding the price, Würfl points out possible limitations. “In this price range, you have to expect compromises in material thickness, accessories, and durability,” she says. Typical weaknesses of cheaper models could be brittle ceramics, unstable lid hinges, or inaccurate air regulation. The insulation might also reach its limits in windy conditions. Nevertheless, the grill is an interesting option for those who want to test the Kamado technique initially.

For the Curious and Occasional Grillers
The Kamado grill on offer at Aldi Nord is not a professional device, but according to the grill blogger, it offers a low-threshold entry into an otherwise high-priced grill category. As a second grill or for occasional use in tight spaces, it is certainly worth considering. Especially for those who do not want to immediately invest four-figure amounts.
Important: Aldi mentions that the offer may vary depending on the federal state. The company states: “Due to a regional holiday (Corpus Christi), you will find our offers in the affected federal states starting Wed. 18.06.” According to Aldi, the grill is only available in physical stores. Elsewhere, the grill may only be available starting June 19.
