Fresh cut flowers can instantly enhance a room. To ensure the pretty blooms are showcased well, they must be arranged correctly in the vase. myHOMEBOOK editor Katharina Regenthal demonstrates in the video series “Easy Home” how a so-called flower grid can help.
No matter how tidy or stylish a room is – fresh flowers in a vase can add that special touch. It’s becoming increasingly popular to buy individual flowers and then use a flower grid to arrange them into a bouquet and place them in the vase. However, making sure this arrangement looks good in the vase isn’t always easy. But there’s a trick to it.
What You Need
To create a flower grid for the vase, you actually only need adhesive tape. Alternatively, you can use wire. However, adhesive tape is less visible and won’t slip – whereas wire is simply placed on top.

How to Make a Flower Grid for the Vase
To prevent the flowers in the vase from pointing in all directions and thus not being showcased well, you can use the flower grid as a tool. It’s quick and easy to make:
- First, check the thickness of the flower stems. This determines the spacing of the grid on the vase. If they are thicker, larger gaps are needed.
- Next, fill the vase with water and place it in front of you. Now take the tape and hold it roughly over the opening of the vase.
- Then you can start taping. Simply apply the strips in a checkerboard pattern.
- Finally, insert the flowers into the openings – and they are beautifully arranged, secure, and won’t slip in all directions.
