Holes in your clothes? This could be a sign of moths in the closet. Scented sachets can help with this. myHOMEBOOK editor Katharina Regenthal explains what you need in this “Easy Home” episode.
If your favorite sweater has holes, clothing moths are likely to blame. These tiny creatures love textiles. They are particularly fond of wool or fur items, but they don’t shy away from synthetic fabrics either. However, they can’t digest these and simply excrete them. The garment is still riddled with holes. Learn how to prevent moths in your closet using scented sachets here.
Scented Sachets Against Moths–What You Need
Moths dislike certain scents. You can take advantage of this by distributing these scents in your closet. The easiest way to do this is with small sachets. Here’s what you need for the scented sachets against moths:
- Organza fabric sachets (they are breathable, allowing the scent to spread)
- dried flowers or leaves such as lavender, rosemary, or mint
Tip: You can also add rose petals to the sachets, but not alone. Roses don’t have a repellent effect on moths. However, they are visually appealing and a nice addition to the moth sachet.
In the past, mothballs were primarily used for prevention. However, some might already smell the somewhat unpleasant and strong odor just from hearing the word. Those days are over–they were real chemical bombs and bad for the environment and health. Moth sachets with natural contents are the better alternative.
Fill Moth Sachets in No Time
To put together a scented sachet against moths, you really don’t need any special skills. Once you have all the materials, the sachets are quickly assembled. Simply fill the small fabric sachets with the dried flowers and leaves and tie them up–done!
