On average, a person releases between one and one and a half liters of fluid while sleeping. Therefore, you should change your bed linens at least every two weeks. If you tend to sweat more at night, you should change them once a week. But who does that so regularly with the time it takes? A trick can now save valuable time when putting on duvet covers.
Usually, you put on your duvet covers alone. And that’s exactly where the problem lies–getting the duvet into the fresh cover is cumbersome. It often crumples or folds over, so it doesn’t completely fill the cover. Thanks to a brilliant trick, that’s a thing of the past. With the so-called burrito technique, you can easily and quickly get the duvet into the cover.
Put on a Duvet Cover with a Trick–Explained in 6 Steps
- To easily and quickly put on a duvet cover, first turn the cover inside out. This means the inside is turned outward. Then spread the cover out on the bed or a suitable surface–the closed side (the one without buttons) should be in front of you.
- Next, spread the duvet out on the cover. Smooth out any folds and unevenness.
- Then grab the cover and the duvet at the closed end and roll them together. Roll carefully all the way to the end! This step explains the name of the trick–you roll the duvet and cover into a burrito.
- Now the end with the buttons on the cover should be in front of you. Reach into the cover and then pull it first left and then right over the roll.
- After that, just tuck the rest of the duvet into the cover. The rolled-up duvet will then be completely inside the cover.
- Finally, grab the cover and duvet together at the end and simply unroll them with a swing. A slight shaking motion makes it even faster. At the end, just smooth it out, and your duvet is newly covered without much effort!

Remember to Clean the Mattress
When you change your bed linens, you should also take the opportunity to clean the mattress. It’s not enough to just change the sheet or cover to ensure hygiene and cleanliness. How it works, what you need, and how often it should be done is explained in the following article:
