What You Need
If you want to remove grease from a plastic container, you don’t need to run the dishwasher—a trick can help. You usually already have everything you need in the kitchen:
- Dish soap
- Paper towels
- Water
It’s also important that the plastic container has a lid so you can close it for the trick.

Here’s how the trick works to remove grease from plastic containers:
- First, pour some water into the container.
- Then add some dish soap.
- Next, depending on the size of the box, place some paper towels into the soap-water mixture.
- Finally, simply close with the lid and shake vigorously. Then rinse once and wipe with a cloth—done!
Tip: For stubborn stains, you can repeat the trick several times to completely remove the grease.
