In a household with many residents–including pets–laundry tends to be particularly hairy. While some of the hair is washed away in the machine, most stubbornly clings to the fabric. A simple trick is said to help remove the hair.
Anyone with pets knows the struggle: clothes, bedding, or home textiles are all covered in hair. Unfortunately, washing doesn’t remove them. A simple hygiene product that many already have at home can serve as a trick to remove hair while doing laundry. We tested it.
Remove Hair While Doing Laundry with a Trick
For this trick, you only need a few wet wipes. Depending on the size of the load, simply add one to three wet wipes to the drum with the laundry. Start the machine as usual. It’s important to remember how many wipes you added so you can retrieve the same number at the end. If you can’t find every wipe, it’s worth checking the washing machine’s lint filter.
During washing, the wipes catch pet hair, bind it, and prevent it from reattaching to the textiles. The advantage of this method is that the wipes do not damage the clothing.
Tip: You should not wash the laundry too hot, as the wipes could dissolve. It’s best to use relatively sturdy wipes. Also, keep in mind that this is not a particularly sustainable solution for removing pet hair while doing laundry.

Alternatives for Removing Pet Hair
There are many ways to remove pet hair. Some are more successful than others. If you want to clean hairy blankets–such as those from dogs, cats, or horses–successfully, you should remove as much hair as possible before washing. Using pet hair removers, you should be able to get rid of most of it. The washing machine can then handle the remaining stray hairs.
