2. Candle Holder from a Pumpkin

A lovely idea for using a pumpkin as decor is to turn it into a candle holder. Only very small pumpkins or ornamental gourds are suitable for this. Carefully remove the stem with a sharp knife. Additionally, cut a small hollow at the top of the pumpkin–large enough to fit a tealight or another candle. Optionally, you can drape some decor around the candle.

3. Paint the Pumpkin for Decor

You don’t always have to carve and cut to turn a pumpkin into beautiful decor. Sometimes, simply painting it is enough. Whether you decorate the pumpkin with ornaments, flowers, or just splashes of color is up to your imagination and talent.

4. Use as a Vase

To enjoy your pumpkin decor for as long as possible, it should be treated a bit. Once a pumpkin is cut, it decays quite quickly.

• Before using a knife, the pumpkin must be thoroughly washed. Cutting the surface opens the door to bacteria and germs.
• The pumpkin should be treated after being hollowed out to make it last longer. You can use 100 milliliters of hydrogen peroxide combined with 100 milliliters of water and 10 to 20 drops of lemon oil. If you don’t have hydrogen peroxide on hand, you can also use hairspray or acrylic lacquer. The pumpkin must be thoroughly sprayed from the inside, including the cut surfaces. Now the pumpkin can be transformed into decor.
