During the energy crisis, most energy providers drastically increased their prices. Eon promised to use every opportunity for price reductions in the future. Now, it seems the moment has arrived.
Good news for millions of households in Germany: After significant price increases in recent months, Germany’s largest energy provider, Eon, plans to lower electricity and gas prices again starting September 1. Millions of customers are expected to benefit, as the company announced in Munich. What does the price reduction at Eon mean for customers?
Price Reduction at Eon Starting September
Electricity prices in the basic supply are expected to decrease by an average of 18 percent, and gas prices in the basic supply by an average of 28 percent. Eon customers with special contracts could also anticipate a price reduction overall, it was stated. Eon supplies electricity to 12 million households and natural gas to over 2 million households in Germany.
What’s Behind This?
Eon is fulfilling its promise to use the leeway for price reductions as soon as it becomes available, explained Sales Director Filip Thon. “Our customers particularly benefited from our long-term purchasing strategy at the height of the energy crisis—we were able to significantly cushion historically high market prices for a long time.” In recent months, Eon had partially increased electricity and gas prices significantly.
