If a necessary connection for a lamp is missing, you don’t have to rearrange your furniture and light sources or resort to an unsightly extension cord. Whether hanging, standing, or wall-mounted, you can make them all shine without cables using a simple trick.
For a cozy, homely atmosphere, it’s essential to have various light sources in the room. Besides a large floor lamp in one corner, you can place a small lamp on a dresser. It becomes problematic when there are no outlets available at the desired location. Sure, electricity is still needed, but there’s another way to make the lamp shine, and that’s entirely without cables.

Make Lamps Shine Without Electricity
Here’s what you need:
- a lamp
- a suitable socket that fits into the thread where you would normally screw in the bulb
- an LED light source, battery or rechargeable battery operated and controllable via remote control
- adhesive
The rest is simple: First, glue the socket to the light source and let it dry thoroughly. Then, you can screw the socket into the lamp–just as you would with the appropriate bulb. Finally, position the lamp as desired and turn on the light using the remote control. And just like that, the lamp shines without electricity!

The Catch with the Lifehack
The only catch with this trick: Since the lamps work without electricity and cables, they are not suitable for permanently illuminating entire rooms. The batteries will eventually run out, and you would need to change them regularly. This lifehack is therefore mainly recommended for lamps that provide accent lighting for short periods or are used as decoration in rooms.
Alternative: Cleverly Conceal Extension Cords
Due to the short-lived nature of the lifehack, it is not always suitable. In some situations, you can’t avoid the conventional method with electricity and cables. However, the problem remains that cables running along the floor often look untidy. They are also real tripping hazards and interfere with cleaning the rooms. To avoid this, you can cleverly conceal extension cords, such as with a cable channel that you can buy at well-stocked hardware stores. Here you can find more ways to hide unsightly cables.
