The year 2025 is still young, making it the perfect time for a fresh look for your home. Specifically, we’re talking about decorating the children’s room. Little Greene, a British paint manufacturer, is currently launching its new wallpaper collection called “Storybook Papers.” myHOMEBOOK got an exclusive preview of the collection.
The children’s room is about to get delightfully animal-themed! The British paint manufacturer Little Greene is introducing its new wallpaper collection, “Storybook Papers.” For the fifth time, the family-owned company from Manchester has collaborated with the National Trust, Europe’s largest heritage conservation organization. A total of eight different designs cover typically childlike themes: Some feature the imaginative life on a farm with all its animals, while others depict vehicles on the paper walls. All motifs share the common theme of symbolizing a journey into the adventures of childhood. They are inspired by archival material preserved and maintained by the National Trust. Proceeds from the sale of each roll of wallpaper benefit the organization.
Historical Toys and Hand Drawings
The motifs of the wallpaper collection are mainly inspired by historical toys from the early and mid-20th century, decorative fabrics, and original artworks, including several works by children’s book author Beatrix Potter. Little Greene’s design studio has lovingly dedicated itself to visualizing the “Storybook Papers” wallpapers, with some objects like tin and wooden toys completely hand-drawn. This approach aims to capture the charm and character of the originals as closely as possible. Each wallpaper is also presented with a selection of color suggestions, allowing for the possibility of decorating other rooms–besides the children’s room–with them.

From Badgers and Mice to Elephants and Tigers
The “Storybook Papers” are known for their charming colors and playful motifs. Little Greene’s “Animal Kingdom” wallpaper showcases a colorful selection of elephants, penguins, ostriches, and tigers. “Riverside Capers” features more familiar animals like geese, chickens, dogs, and cows. “Potter’s Woodland” offers the little ones a picturesque natural setting with whimsical scenes of mice, badgers, blue tits, and robins. This design is also based on a tastefully coordinated color scheme: colorful, but not too wild!

Because the children’s room doesn’t always have to be brightly colored, and more subdued colors can also be part of the design, Little Greene has kept part of the collection in more neutral tones. However, the collection does not lose its playful character. Among Little Greene’s “Storybook Papers” is the flock design “Nip & Lassie,” which features Beatrix Potter’s two beloved collies. The two dogs guard a Herdwick sheep flock on a light blue background, with the wool expressed through flocking, giving the wallpaper more texture.

Not Just for the Children’s Room
Even though the “Storybook Papers” are a wallpaper collection for the children’s room, Little Greene has designed some patterns to be compatible with other rooms. Some designs appear relatively neutral, such as “Broad Stripe” with block stripes in pea green and white, and can easily fit into the bathroom, dining room, living room, or hallway. The striking wallpaper model can also serve as a harmonious addition: The wide stripes in green and coral perfectly complement the “Road Trip” design, which features a variety of vehicles, naturally in a child-friendly depiction.
