An appealing rug adds a cozy touch to hallways and entryways, completing the decor harmoniously. However, practical aspects are particularly important in this area, as people often walk over it with street shoes. So, what should you consider to find the perfect rug for the hallway?
What to Consider When Choosing a Hallway Rug
For hallways and entryways, it’s especially important that the rug is easy to clean, explains interior consultant Angelika Hinz. Safety with a Non-Slip Mat
To ensure the rug stays in place despite heavy foot traffic, a non-slip mat is recommended as a base. With a non-slip mat, the rug remains securely in place even in high-traffic areas, explains Hinz. This reduces the risk of tripping hazards and prevents the rug from slipping easily.
Important for Pet Owners
Pet owners or those who frequently have four-legged visitors should opt for flat-woven rugs, “because they are simply easier to clean,” as Hinz explains. The choice of color can also make a big difference: For pets with dark fur, dark and patterned rugs are more advantageous as they visually conceal the fur. For pets with light fur, Hinz recommends light-colored rugs, as they are less prone to visible pet hair.
