No matter how much you stretch and reach, some corners and niches are simply out of the vacuum cleaner’s reach. Leaving the dirt there isn’t an option either. So what can you do? A trick can help.
Vacuum cleaners often come with a few attachments designed for specific surfaces or applications. However, they don’t always fit behind all furniture, into gaps, or the tightest niches. Frustrated users don’t need to buy expensive extra accessories; instead, they can use a simple vacuum cleaner trick to reach and remove dirt from the deepest corners.
How Does the Trick Work?
To reach corners and crevices, you can repurpose an empty toilet paper roll for this vacuum cleaner trick. The approach is quite simple: Remove the vacuum attachment from the hose and slip the cardboard roll over it. You can secure it with some tape if needed. Then, gently press the end of the roll to the desired width. You’ve just crafted your own vacuum attachment.

The narrower you press the roll, the smaller and tighter the corners, niches, and edges you can reach with the vacuum cleaner–such as the gaps in radiators, on moldings, or in window frames. To learn what else you can do with empty toilet paper rolls around the house, check out this article.
