As varied as tastes are, so too are interior design styles. Each style has its own essential elements. Discover what these are for the Boho style here.
Colors, shapes, materials–all this and a bit more characterize the various interior design styles. Sometimes just one piece of furniture is enough to immediately identify the style it belongs to. The Boho-Chic style also has fundamental characteristics that define it. The following seven elements are essential when decorating your home in the Boho style.
1. Natural Colors
When decorating in the Boho style, a warm color palette is primarily used. Warm earth and natural tones are key. These include colors such as cream, beige, sand, white, brown, as well as olive or khaki. The combination of different color shades is especially important. This goes hand in hand with various natural materials that naturally have these colors.
2. Macramé Decor
What absolutely must not be missing in the Boho style are (handmade) macramés. With this knotting technique, you can create wall hangings, plant hangers, or even pouf covers. Nowadays, these Boho decor items are available almost everywhere. If you want to try it yourself, you can watch the five basic macramé knots in the myHOMEBOOK video.

3. Natural Materials
Opting for the Boho style in decorating automatically brings a bit of a vacation feel into your home. This is largely due to the materials used. Materials and fabrics made from natural fibers are particularly popular. Jute or sisal is often used for rugs, while rattan is favored for furniture. Decorative baskets made of straw are also popular. Cozy textiles, such as those made from cotton, are also part of Boho-style decorating.
4. Hanging Chair
It’s not essential, but it can perfect the Boho-Chic: a hanging chair made of rattan. While it may remind you of a vacation, it can also be wonderfully installed in the apartment or on the balcony. The casual look, the material, and matching cushions complete the Boho-Chic.

5. Rug Made of Sisal or Jute
As previously mentioned, rugs made of sisal or jute are often used in the Boho decorating style. When decorating in this style, you shouldn’t do without a rug of this type, as it ideally rounds off the Boho look. Boho rugs are often adorned with graphic patterns that add some variety to the home.

6. Plant Oasis
Nature is also a theme in the decorative elements that belong to the Boho style. Houseplants are at the forefront. With them, you can transform your home into a small Boho oasis. Particularly beautiful are monstera, palms, and even cacti. For the plant pots, you can again opt for natural tones and graphic patterns. Macramé plant hangers are also wonderfully suitable here.

7. Pampas Grass
Pampas grass remains a perennial favorite in decor–whether planted in the garden or dried in a vase. It fits perfectly into a Boho home thanks to its natural appearance and simple color scheme, but it’s no longer found only in Boho interiors.
