There’s no getting around U.S. actress Kate Hudson. The 45-year-old has appeared in numerous films and recently released her first music album. The mention of her mother’s name is sure to catch your attention–she’s none other than actress Goldie Hawn. Kate Hudson was introduced to the celebrity world as a child and lived in a fitting home, where she has actually returned to live in recent years.

A Property with History

Kate Hudson lives with her family in Los Angeles in a house–though calling it a house is an understatement. It’s more of a sprawling estate. Some might think: Of course, Kate Hudson has a massive estate in L.A.–just like every other Hollywood celebrity. But there’s more to it in this case.

The house once belonged to her mother, Goldie Hawn, who bought it with her partner Kurt Russell in the 1970s. Hudson spent her childhood there. Later, Goldie Hawn sold the property, but in the early 2000s, her daughter reportedly bought it back for about $5.5 million and is now raising her own three children there.

Kate Hudson took it a step further when she bought the neighboring villa a few years later–which also had a hefty price tag of $5.3 million. According to some U.S. media, the second villa is used merely as a guesthouse–a place where you’d certainly want to be an overnight guest.

Vintage Look and Country Style

Kate Hudson’s estate has history–and the interior design reflects that. Whether there are actual originals from her childhood is unknown, but it certainly looks that way in parts. The whole house exudes a certain charm, is a bit old-school, yet not outdated.

Kate Hudson’s kitchen is in classic country style. The fronts are a lovely mint green. The countertops are white, an antique-looking red Oriental rug covers the floor, and the backsplash at the stove is made of colorful tiles. Pictures in various frames and small antlers hang on the walls, and fabric pleats are installed on the windows. Everything feels homey and cozy–fitting, as it’s an open kitchen to the living area.
