Kendall Jenner opens the doors of her “Mountain House” to Architectural Digest, showcasing a warm, playful “Grandma Chic” style that captivates with patterns, textures, and charming vintage details.
With her new retreat high in the mountains—the exact location is undisclosed—Kendall Jenner demonstrates that not every home needs to impress with a monotonous look, as one might expect from her sister Kim Kardashian. Together with designer Heidi Caillier, she has created a space that is intentionally cozy, inviting, and full of character.
A Home for Her Friends
For Kendall, this house was meant to be more than just a vacation residence. It’s a place for gatherings, long winter evenings with friends—a true communal home. She built the house more for her friends, she says with a smile during her home tour for Architectural Digest. The oversized upholstered seating area in the living room immediately catches the eye. A statement sofa with bold floral fabric, it’s not just a visual highlight but also a spot for shared moments.
The dining area is also generously planned: A large dining table and an inviting bench that can accommodate many people. Jenner shares how happy it made her when all her friends filled the couch. That moment was the fulfillment of her design vision, which she had long envisioned.
Colors, Patterns, and Furniture with Character
The house’s design thrives on contrasts. A rustic mountain cabin meets playful vintage elegance. Bold colors, patterned fabrics, old books, and other curated objects from antique shops are found throughout. The intentional chaos of fabrics and textures feels like a lovingly assembled family home, only with the comfort and sophistication of a modern house.
A particularly special piece of furniture is the sofa with its striking fabric—Jenner’s deliberate choice for “Grandma Chic.” Next to it stands a rare vintage piano: an original signed model by Gibson, making it a small treasure with personality.

Kitchen and Bathroom Have a Playful Touch
Since the rest of the house is already visually busy, Jenner decided to keep the kitchen of her “Mountain House” intentionally calmer. She opted for a timeless combination of dark wood and elegant marble, giving the space a warm, grounded atmosphere.
However, she didn’t want to do without accents: The striking red-and-white tiled floor brings playful energy to the kitchen, while the bold blue oven immediately catches the eye. The blue subtly reappears in other elements—such as the small curtain panels at the sink—creating a harmonious color concept that shows personality despite its restraint.
The bathroom, on the other hand, is much more colorful. The burgundy walls meet checkered tiles reminiscent of those in the kitchen, but in a smaller format, adding even more vintage charm. The combination is bold, almost unconventional, and strikes a balance between nostalgic coziness and cheerful individuality. It’s a playful space that celebrates its character. Jenner is particularly fond of the shower, with its unique white-checkered tiles—perhaps so much so that it has become her favorite piece in the entire house, as she reveals.
The Bedrooms
Jenner’s bedroom, characterized by the visibly running wooden beams under the ceiling, uniquely combines maturity and childlike lightness. The room feels both calming and playful, as if it unites two life sentiments. Jenner herself describes it as a place where she feels like a little girl—a retreat not only for relaxing but also for reading, dreaming, and unwinding.
This feeling is created not least by the colorful mix of patterns that defines the room. The delicately patterned wallpaper sets the stage, a generous Persian rug under the bed, and the various bedspreads add structure and vibrancy. Every angle reveals a new small composition of fabrics, colors, and textures.
A special highlight of the house is the so-called “Bunk Bedroom,” a room with four spacious built-in beds. It’s intended for friends, for her nieces and nephews—and, as Jenner says, maybe one day for her own children. Each sleeping nook becomes a small, enclosed world through the individually selected fabrics, where one can curl up and feel secure.
Despite the practical layout, the room exudes charming warmth. A strong color accent adds modernity: The custom-made ladder in bright red provides a fresh “pop of color” and lively balances the room’s more traditional elements.
