Enhancing your home with stylish artwork isn’t as simple as it seems. With a vast selection available, it’s easy to lose track. The startup Loremo has made it its mission to help with this very issue.
A work of art tailored precisely to your own decor and personality–that’s what the startup “Loremo” specializes in. It is the first digital platform for commissioned art in a more upscale style. In the TV show “Die Höhle der Löwen” (VOX, May 6, 2024, 8:15 p.m.), founder Franziska Scheuerle presented her startup in detail and hopes for a lion’s share of 200,000 euros. She would have been willing to give up ten percent of the company’s shares for it. Whether the deal went through and what “Loremo” is all about, you can read here.
The Idea Behind “Loremo”
“Loremo” is an online platform where you can purchase artworks made specifically for you. You don’t have to look at countless artworks or artists; instead, you’re guided through the process.
“The idea for ‘Loremo’ came from my observation that many of my friends placed great value on high-quality interior design but often had difficulty selecting suitable artworks,” explains founder Franziska Scheuerle to myHOMEBOOK. She often saw art prints or artworks that were neither the right size nor color for the existing interior. There seemed to be a lack of a sense for art and aesthetics, which motivated her to start “Loremo.”
The unique aspect of the digital platform is that customers can decide on the size and color scheme themselves, so it perfectly matches the existing decor. However, since this step might not be easy for everyone, artificial intelligence is used: “I believe art should be individual and personal, and that’s why we developed an AI art configurator that helps customers find the right artist and colors for their artwork in just a few minutes through a guided process,” says the founder. The concept is based on scientific findings in neuroscience and color psychology.

How to Get Your Personal Artwork
The idea behind “Loremo” is clear: If you don’t have the right sense or simply don’t want to do the work of finding a suitable artwork, you get support on the digital platform. And it works quite simply. First, you upload a photo of the room where the artwork will hang. Then, you are guided through the selection process with the help of AI.
“Our AI art configurator allows our customers to create individual commissioned artworks that perfectly match their interior and personality through a guided process,” says Scheuerle. If all this seems too digital, you can also book a digital art consultation and have personal contact.

What Does a Picture Cost at “Loremo”
The artwork at the end of the process is not created by artificial intelligence but by real artists. And, of course, that comes with a price.
The costs vary depending on the size and artist–usually, the price is in the four-digit range. There are no upper limits, says Scheuerle: “The prices are based on the international art market and thus on the artist factor, which varies depending on the artist’s career status.”
“Loremo” Aims to Grow Further
In “Die Höhle der Löwen,” the founder from Munich hoped that one of the investors would join. To achieve her goal of making “Loremo” one of the largest providers of high-quality, luxurious commissioned art worldwide, she wanted 200,000 euros. For this, Scheuerle offered ten percent of her company shares.
Investors Dagmar Wöhrl, Carsten Maschmeyer, and Tillman Schulz were impressed by the founder but not entirely convinced by the product, so they made a counteroffer. 200,000 euros for 30 percent–after a brief consultation, Scheuerle accepted the offer. However, in Wirtschaftswoche, the founder reports that after further discussions, no collaboration materialized due to strategic differences.
